Akpabio Mocks PDP, Says Party Should ‘Be Allowed to Die’ as He Hails Wike’s Performance

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that the opposition party has lost relevance and should be “allowed to die.”

Akpabio made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking at the commissioning of a road project in the Gaduwa District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Reacting to the emergence of a PDP candidate in a recent election, the Senate President questioned the party’s continued existence.

“I didn’t know there was still PDP. If a party has died, allow it to die,” Akpabio said, while addressing supporters and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He also urged the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, to “stop confusing us,” in apparent reference to Wike’s continued association with the PDP despite serving in the APC-led Federal Government.

Akpabio added that he would not comment on the internal affairs of the PDP, insisting that the party was no longer politically relevant.

“I won’t discuss anything concerning the PDP. Like I said, anything that has died has died,” he stated.

The Senate President also commended the FCT Minister for what he described as his outstanding performance in transforming Abuja’s infrastructure.

Praising Wike’s leadership, Akpabio said the minister had outperformed his predecessors, adding that ongoing projects across the nation’s capital had left many residents impressed.

“The performing Minister of the FCT has made his predecessors look like they only came to drink tea in Abuja. The things they are doing are remarkable. You and the President are performing miracles here,” he said.
