A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed allegations that he is secretly working for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso made the remarks during an interview on Global Television on Wednesday, describing the claims as baseless and misleading.
“I think only foolish people would believe that,” he said while reacting to the allegation.
The former Kano State governor was responding to comments credited to Sanusi Bature, spokesman to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who alleged that Kwankwaso was working behind the scenes for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Kwankwaso, however, maintained that his political focus remains firmly with the NDC, stressing that the party is committed to addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
“They have been saying it, especially when we were in the NNPP. Now, they will realize we are very serious people,” he stated.
He added that the NDC already has a clear blueprint aimed at tackling insecurity, improving education, and addressing other national issues.
“I’m not conversant with anybody working for anyone. We are working for the NDC and our blueprint is there for everybody to see,” Kwankwaso added.
