The All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked a widely circulated report claiming to reveal the cost of its expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the alleged price list as “fake news” intended to mislead the public.
Morka clarified that the party has neither discussed nor approved any pricing for its electoral forms for the upcoming election cycle.
“The APC states categorically that the report is fake and did not emanate from the party,” he said. “To be clear, no decision or announcement has been made on the sale or pricing of forms for the 2027 elections. The report is a mere figment of the writer’s mischievous imagination.”
He urged party members, media organisations, and the general public to disregard the circulating information in its entirety.
The rebuttal follows the spread of a viral WhatsApp message which claimed that the presidential expression of interest and nomination forms would cost ₦200 million, while forms for State Assembly aspirants were pegged at ₦20 million.
The APC’s clarification comes amid lingering public concerns over the high cost of political participation in Nigeria. During the 2023 Nigerian general election, the party faced widespread criticism after setting its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million, sparking debate over inclusivity and access within the country’s democratic process.
