Klopp Turned Down Man United, Chelsea After Liverpool Exit — Agent Reveals

0

Marc Kosicke, agent to former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, has disclosed that the German tactician rejected approaches from Manchester United and Chelsea following his departure from Anfield in 2024.

Klopp stepped down as Liverpool boss at the end of the 2023/24 season, bringing an era-defining tenure at the club to a close. After taking a short break from frontline coaching, the 57-year-old assumed a new role as Head of Soccer at the Red Bull group.

Speaking to Transfermarkt, Kosicke revealed that Klopp attracted significant interest from several top football institutions, including national teams and Premier League rivals.

“Before joining Red Bull, Jürgen could have coached the USA or England,” Kosicke said. “Probably also Germany, if Julian Nagelsmann hadn’t already been there.”

He further disclosed that both Manchester United and Chelsea made enquiries about the availability of the former Liverpool boss. However, Klopp maintained a firm stance regarding his future in England.

“Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jürgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England. These enquiries keep coming,” Kosicke added.

Klopp spent nearly nine years at Liverpool, winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and multiple domestic trophies. His decision not to manage another English club reinforces his deep connection with the Merseyside outfit, despite continued interest from elite sides across Europe and beyond.
