Abuja — The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu’s infinity symbol is linked to occultism, describing such allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
Yilwatda said the claims are being pushed by critics seeking to mislead the public and create unnecessary controversy around the president.
He made the clarification on Tuesday while speaking on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television.
Responding to questions about insinuations that the infinity sign on President Tinubu’s cap is an occult signal meant to “capture” people, Yilwatda explained that the symbol represents freedom and national progress.
“President Tinubu’s infinity signature is a symbol of freedom—freedom of association, freedom from poverty, and freedom from military entanglement following the handover of power to civilians in 1999,” he said.
According to him, supporters of the president embraced the symbol as a representation of these ideals, which explains why it has gained popularity among Tinubu’s followers.
“Those who believe in him bought into it and began wearing it as a sign of freedom,” Yilwatda added.
He further accused critics of deliberately twisting narratives to create negative impressions about the president.
“Critics do not define the moment. They are simply looking for loopholes to misinform society, and this is one of such attempts,” he said.
