Chelsea are reportedly set to terminate Raheem Sterling’s contract within days, bringing an end to the winger’s troubled spell at Stamford Bridge.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues are ready to rip up Sterling’s £325,000-a-week deal before Monday’s transfer deadline, effectively ending his association with the club. The 31-year-old has not featured for Chelsea’s first team in nearly two years.
Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 on a five-year contract but has struggled to establish himself. He has been frozen out of the squad since May 2024 and spent the most recent season on loan at Arsenal.
With his Chelsea contract set to be terminated, the former England international is now expected to explore permanent transfer options. Reports suggest Sterling is keen to secure a fresh start elsewhere and is reluctant to accept another loan move.
Chelsea’s decision would officially close the chapter on Sterling’s time at the club, as both parties look ahead to the next stage of their respective rebuilds.
