Ogun Court Denies Bail to Singer Portable

Ota, Ogun State – A Ogun State High Court in Ota has denied bail to controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, following his arraignment on multiple criminal charges.

Portable appeared before the court on a nine-count charge, including assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest. The trial judge declined to grant bail, citing the absence of the police officer allegedly assaulted during the incident, stressing that the officer’s presence was necessary before a decision could be made. The court adjourned the matter to January 19 for a hearing on the bail application, remanding the singer in custody.

The charges reportedly stem from a complaint lodged by Portable’s estranged partner, Ashabi Simple. According to the Ogun State Police Command, Portable allegedly attacked Ashabi, police officers, and other individuals during a New Year’s Day incident at his bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Ogun State.

The singer is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million, allegedly belonging to complainant Ileyemi Damilola. The vehicle is reportedly registered under Wally Dex Auto dealership.

During the proceedings, two of Ashabi’s siblings testified as prosecution witnesses, recounting the alleged assault. Ashabi herself was absent. The police also alleged that Portable obstructed and assaulted a female police inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was performing her official duties.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with many following the developments closely ahead of the next court hearing.
