Wike’s Kinsmen Endorse Fubara for Second Term

Kinsmen of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have publicly endorsed Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Tuesday during the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration held at State Primary School One, Eneka, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The event was themed “Unity: Our Strength for Progress.”

Leaders and residents of Eneka — Wike’s home community — declared their full support for Governor Fubara, stressing that political authority in the state rests solely with the current governor. They noted that while Wike remains an influential political figure, he is no longer the governor of Rivers State.

The event drew traditional rulers, community leaders and residents from the eleven communities that make up the Eneka clan. Speaking on behalf of the people, Chairman of the Eneka Community Development Committee (CDC), Lawson Chukwu, reaffirmed the clan’s unwavering loyalty to Governor Fubara.

Chukwu commended the governor for ongoing development efforts in the area and appealed for urgent attention to the construction and rehabilitation of Eneka’s internal roads. He also requested the upgrade of the Eneka traditional stool from second-class to first-class status, saying it would strengthen the community’s cultural heritage and unity.

Also speaking, the political leader of Eneka Clan and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, declared that the people of Eneka recognise Siminalayi Fubara as the only Governor of Rivers State. He pledged the clan’s continued friendship and support, describing the relationship as firm and unbroken.

In his response, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude for the endorsement and the show of unity by the Eneka people. He assured the community that his administration would prioritise the rehabilitation of several deteriorated internal roads, many of which were damaged by heavy-duty trucks used during flyover construction.

“I promise you significant and reasonable intervention to improve road access within your clan and enhance your quality of life,” the governor said.

He also directed the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs to immediately begin the process of upgrading the Eneka traditional stool from second-class to first-class status.

“A peaceful and united community makes it easier for government to deliver meaningful development without internal conflict,” Fubara added.
