Nigerian singer and songwriter Fireboy DML has opened up about his stance on music rankings, revealing that he is unconcerned about being placed in “Top 5” or “Top 10” conversations within the industry.
The Peru hitmaker made the disclosure while speaking on an episode of the 90s Baby podcast, where he explained that critical ratings and debates among music enthusiasts do not influence how he views his career.
According to Fireboy, the perception of his fans holds far more value than industry rankings, stressing that their loyalty and appreciation are enough validation for him.
“I don’t really care about Top 5 or Top 10, as long as I have fans who rate me,” he said. “I know that I have fans that think I’m the best artiste in the whole world, and that is good enough for me. I’m a very contented person.”
The singer’s comments highlight his grounded approach to fame and success, focusing on genuine fan connection rather than external validation or competitive comparisons within the music scene.
