Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has approved the indefinite suspension of a political aide while reinstating another, amid ongoing political tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The decisions were contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim, and made available to journalists.
According to the statement, Sule A. Musa, the Special Assistant on Education Monitoring for Auyo Local Government Area, has been suspended indefinitely with immediate effect.
“Governor Umar Namadi has approved the indefinite suspension of Sule A. Musa, Special Assistant on Education Monitoring, Auyo Local Government Area,” the statement read.
The state government, however, did not disclose the reason for Musa’s suspension.
In a separate development, the governor lifted the suspension earlier imposed on Basiru Abdullahi, popularly known as “Optimistic,” and directed him to resume his duties as Special Assistant on Health Monitoring for Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.
“Governor Namadi has lifted the suspension on Basiru Abdullahi (Optimistic), the Special Assistant to the Governor on Health Monitoring, Kafin Hausa Local Government Area,” the statement added.
Abdullahi, who had been suspended earlier this year, is expected to return to office immediately.
The state government noted that both decisions take effect immediately.
The latest developments come against the backdrop of growing political tensions within the Jigawa State chapter of the APC following recent party primary elections.
Several political appointees have in recent months faced disciplinary actions over alleged anti-party activities, although the government has not officially linked the latest suspension and reinstatement to the ongoing party crisis.
