Bauchi State Shuts All Schools Amid Rising Security Concerns

0

Bauchi State has ordered the immediate closure of all schools in the state following a surge in terrorism across northern Nigeria. The directive, announced by Jalaludeen Usman, Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, affects primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, including both Federal Government and privately-owned schools.

In a statement released on Sunday, Usman said the decision, though difficult, was made after extensive consultations in response to escalating security threats targeting students, teachers, and school communities.

“The government is fully aware of the inconvenience this may cause, but the protection of our children is our highest moral responsibility,” the statement read. “Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.”

Authorities urged parents, guardians, and school proprietors to remain calm and cooperative, assuring the public that the government is working closely with security agencies to restore safety and resume normal academic activities as soon as possible.

The Ministry also called on citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that timely information from the public is critical to protecting communities.
