Factional Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, Elizabeth Ativie, has accused the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of being behind the lingering crisis rocking the LP.
Ativie, a loyalist of the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, alleged that an “illegal” expanded stakeholders’ meeting convened in Umuahia, Abia State, on September 4, 2024, by Obi and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, was the genesis of the problem.
“We want to state clearly that the problem in the Labour Party was created by Obi. It was him and Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, that convened the ill-fated and illegally expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia for the sole purpose of removing a legally constituted National Working Committee of the party through underhand means,” she claimed.
Ativie also condemned the attack on the LP National Chairman by one of Obi’s staunch supporters, Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama P.
According to her, Obi lacks the qualities required to lead effectively.
“A leader who cannot advise or guide his followers properly can hardly be a good leader. It is even more dangerous to entrust the whole Nigeria into such one’s care,” she added, stressing that Obi lacks the “competence, character, and capacity” to realise the vision of a new Nigeria.
