SOKOTO — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has labeled former Governor Aminu Tambuwal as “politically retired,” questioning his influence and legacy in the state.
The attack came from the APC State Chairman, Sadiq Achida, during a press briefing on Monday in Sokoto. Achida claimed that Tambuwal lacked an independent political base, arguing that his rise to power was largely due to the backing of political godfathers, particularly Senator Aliyu Wamakko.
“No Abuja alliance, no media propaganda, no recycled coalition can revive a politician whose only legacy is propaganda and a collapsed state,” Achida said, describing Tambuwal’s political future as bleak.
The APC chairman further alleged that Tambuwal deliberately avoided formally handing over to his successor in 2023, in a bid to evade accountability for leaving Sokoto with numerous incomplete projects.
Achida’s comments underscore the party’s efforts to question Tambuwal’s credibility and influence ahead of the next political contests in the state.
