Popular Nigerian musician, Shallipopi, has sparked debate online after cautioning men against going into relationships or marriage, describing both as heavy financial burdens.
The “Obapluto” crooner took to X on Monday, where he labeled relationships a “financial trap” and tagged marriage as a “financial mistake” — especially for men from humble backgrounds.
According to him, men who are not born into wealthy families should avoid such commitments and instead focus on living within their means.
In his words: “The biggest financial mistake, when you and your papa nor dey the Top 10 list of richest people in Africa, you go cry bro. OS na financial mistake, Girlfriend na financial mistake, stay celibate.”
Shallipopi’s remarks have since stirred mixed reactions, with some agreeing with his perspective, while others criticized his stance as too extreme.
