Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is on course for a decisive victory in the 2027 general election, describing the poll as a “coronation” rather than a contest.
Speaking on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Keyamo expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would retain power, insisting that the achievements of the Tinubu administration had earned widespread support across the country.
The minister also dismissed the electoral prospects of the leading opposition figures, Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“I want to make a profound closing statement—not out of arrogance or overconfidence, but based on pure demographic calculations. The 2027 election is a coronation, not an election. I repeat, don’t take me out of context. Out of pure demographic calculations, it’s a coronation,” Keyamo said.
Questioning the opposition’s electoral strength, he added, “Between you and me, where will Obi’s votes come from? I can’t see it. I don’t see where it will come from.”
Keyamo maintained that the APC remains well-positioned to secure another term in office, citing what he described as the Federal Government’s performance and growing public support ahead of the 2027 elections.
