Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly challenged Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Moshood Jimoh to respond to allegations that he conspired to frame businessman Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi in a murder investigation.
In a video shared on his official social media platforms, VeryDarkMan questioned the handling of the investigation into the death of Sheriff Salami, alleging that the senior police officer compromised the integrity of the criminal justice process.
According to the activist, AIG Jimoh allegedly collaborated with Aare Bashiru Fakorede to implicate Akanbi in the murder despite initial confessions by suspects that reportedly did not mention the businessman.
“Do you know what it means that two businessmen are fighting and one uses a senior police officer to frame the other for murder because they want to get rid of him?” VeryDarkMan said in the video.
“I just want you to respond to the heavy allegations I laid against you. I said you conspired with Aare Fakorede to set up and pin murder on Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi. I want you to respond.”
VeryDarkMan further alleged that police investigators arrested an initial suspect on January 6, 2026, whose confession identified other individuals allegedly linked to the killing but did not implicate Akanbi. He claimed that another suspect arrested later also gave a statement that excluded the businessman.
The activist alleged that the suspects were subsequently forced to make fresh statements implicating Akanbi after being subjected to torture.
To support his claims, VeryDarkMan displayed what he described as part of a suspect’s statement, in which the individual allegedly claimed he was tortured and pressured by police officers to falsely implicate the businessman. The suspect also reportedly alleged that he acted under duress after witnessing another detainee die in police custody.
According to VeryDarkMan, the alleged inconsistencies between the suspects’ earlier recorded confessions and later written statements raise serious concerns about the credibility of the investigation.
“This was why the first statement recorded in a video does not tally with the second statement that was written down. Now this is their third statement when the case was taken away from you,” he alleged.
The activist maintained that the allegations go beyond a single criminal case and touch on the integrity of Nigeria’s justice system.
“We are talking about the integrity of the justice system of Nigeria,” he said.
Following the initial allegations, AIG Moshood Jimoh appeared on TVC, where he denied any wrongdoing.
However, in his latest video, VeryDarkMan insisted that the police chief had not directly addressed the specific allegations against him and renewed his call for a public response.
