Human rights activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, Aisha Yesufu, has said President Bola Tinubu should have been impeached long before now.
Yesufu made the remark in a post shared on her verified X account on Tuesday while reacting to comments by the National Assembly over the delay in implementing the 2025 national budget.
Her reaction followed a statement by Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (APC, Borno North), who on Monday described the failure to implement the capital component of the national budget as an “impeachable offence.”
Responding to the senator’s position, Yesufu wrote: “Start the process already. President Tinubu should have been impeached years ago.”
The activist has been a vocal critic of the Tinubu administration. In an earlier reaction, she accused members of the National Assembly of enabling what she described as the “evil” being perpetrated by the current government, arguing that lawmakers have failed to hold the executive accountable.
