Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja following the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he participated in a series of key political, governmental, and national engagements.

The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at exactly 5:17 p.m. on Tuesday. He was received by top government officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu; and other senior aides.

During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu hosted several high-profile visitors as part of the traditional Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. Among those who paid Sallah homage were Vice President Kashim Shettima, the leadership of the Senate headed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum led by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The President also received All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Oyo State, including the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, as well as APC candidates for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly from Lagos State.

In a major national engagement, President Tinubu attended the International Fleet Review held at the Eko Atlantic City Waterfront on Monday as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy. During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels — NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila, and NNS Gurara — reaffirming the administration’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s maritime security capabilities.

The President also held talks with the President of the Republic of Benin, His Excellency Romuald Wadagni, in a meeting focused on deepening bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and economic partnership between the two neighbouring countries.

Prior to the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, President Tinubu participated in the APC primaries in Lagos, where candidates were elected for various positions, including the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential elections.

The President cast his vote during the exercise and was subsequently endorsed by millions of party members across the country as the APC’s presidential flagbearer for the 2027 general election.

The Lagos visit underscored a period of intense political consultations, national engagements, and diplomatic outreach for the President before his return to the nation’s capital.
