
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House in Abuja, marking the council’s first session since June 29, 2026.
The meeting commenced with the national anthem shortly after President Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber at about 2:30 p.m.
Those in attendance included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; members of the Federal Executive Council, presidential aides and heads of government agencies.
During the session, the council observed a minute’s silence in honour of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance under the Ibrahim Babangida administration, who died on July 30, 2026.
The council also paid tribute to Prof. Turner Isoun, a former Minister of Science and Technology under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who died on July 15, 2026.
At its last meeting on June 29, President Tinubu swore in two newly appointed federal commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Amina Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar, representing Kaduna State, before the council’s proceedings began.
Details of the resolutions and deliberations from Wednesday’s FEC meeting had yet to be made public as of the time of filing this report.
