‘Stop Playing the Victim’ — Aisha Yesufu Blasts Senators, Says They Enable Tinubu’s ‘Shenanigans’

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has accused members of the Nigerian Senate of enabling what she described as the “evil” being perpetrated by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, insisting that lawmakers should stop portraying themselves as victims.

Yesufu made the remarks in a statement shared on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday while reacting to comments by Senator Garba Maidoki, who represents Kebbi South Senatorial District.

The senator had lamented the worsening insecurity in his constituency, revealing that he appealed on the Senate floor for Nigerians to come to their aid as bandits continue to kill his people.

Responding, Yesufu argued that senators bear responsibility for the current state of affairs, saying they have consistently empowered the President through their actions and decisions.

“Senators should stop infantilizing themselves! They are not victims. They are enablers of whatever evil Tinubu is carrying out in this country.

“They are the ones giving him the power to do all the shenanigans he is currently doing,” she wrote.

Her comments come amid growing public criticism over rising insecurity, economic hardship, and calls for greater accountability from elected officials.
