The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said President Bola Tinubu lacks the energy required to continue governing Nigeria, urging him to step aside after the 2027 presidential election.
Obi made the remarks while speaking at a town hall meeting in Calabar, Cross River State, where he called on Nigerians to elect a leader with the competence, capacity and commitment to rebuild the country.
He urged citizens to support a candidate capable of delivering meaningful change and creating opportunities for all Nigerians, regardless of their backgrounds or connections.
“We want you to go out and help us elect somebody who is competent, somebody who has capacity, with compassion and commitment to building another Nigeria,” Obi said.
He further expressed his vision of a country where opportunities would be accessible to everyone, irrespective of their social status or connections.
“We want to build a country where a child of a nobody can be somebody without knowing anybody,” he added.
Taking a swipe at Tinubu’s leadership capacity, Obi said the President was tired and should retire from politics after the 2027 election.
“Tinubu is tired, he does not have the energy for the job, he should go home,” he stated.
