Popular Ondo State pastor, Olabanjo Felix Gold, has announced his decision to leave Christianity and embrace Ìṣẹ̀ṣe, the indigenous Yoruba spiritual tradition.
Olabanjo, who previously founded Image of God Evangelical and Prophetic Ministries, made the disclosure in a video shared online, where he introduced himself by his new spiritual identity.
According to him, he was formerly known as Pastor Olabanjo Felix Gold, the founder of Image of God Evangelical Ministries, but now identifies as Ifawamiri Aworan Olodumare, Babalawo of Ifá.
The former cleric said his personal spiritual journey led him away from Christianity and into the practice of Ifá.
He also expressed appreciation to traditional spiritual elders whom he credited with guiding and supporting him during his transition.
Olabanjo particularly acknowledged his Oluwo, Baba Aifuwapẹ, Oluṣẹgun Latunji, whom he identified as the Araba of Isararemọ, as well as other individuals who he said played important roles in his spiritual journey.
Emphasising the importance of mentorship and respect for elders within Ìṣẹ̀ṣe, the former pastor said his new path had strengthened his commitment to indigenous Yoruba spirituality.
He further rejected Christianity and other foreign religions, describing them as false and declaring Ìṣẹ̀ṣe to be the authentic spiritual path.
The announcement has generated mixed reactions on social media, with many users focusing on his transition from leading an evangelical ministry to publicly identifying as a Babalawo.
