The 2026 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has confirmed the formation of a political alliance involving the PDP, Accord, Action Democratic Party (ADP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Alliance (AA) and other political groups to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Oluyede made the disclosure in Ado-Ekiti during the inaugural meeting of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda (OPARHA).
He urged his supporters and political associates to put aside their grievances arising from the 2026 Ekiti governorship election and unite behind Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign.
According to him, the alliance was being formed in the interest of Nigeria and not for financial benefits, adding that its members were focused on supporting what they believe would promote the country’s progress and development.
Oluyede said his decision to support Tinubu followed a recent communication from the Presidency, during which the President appealed to him to move beyond the disagreements that arose from the Ekiti governorship election and work with his administration.
He said Tinubu assured him that political differences from the election should not prevent them from working together.
“President Bola Tinubu didn’t ask me to depart PDP. He told me, ‘Let’s work together for my re-election bid and I’ll settle you after my re-election,’” Oluyede said.
The former PDP candidate also announced an end to his political differences with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, saying he was prepared to work with the governor in support of Tinubu’s re-election.
Oluyede recalled his longstanding support for Tinubu, noting that he was among those who founded the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) movement.
He said the President’s appeal for his support demonstrated the importance attached to his political network.
“The war is over. I and Governor Biodun Oyebanji will work together for President Bola Tinubu’s election. I am no more fighting with Oyebanji. God has given him his victory,” he said.
Oluyede added that his interactions with Oyebanji should be understood within the context of his commitment to Tinubu’s re-election.
“If you see me in his house, I’m not there for myself but for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. But the next election in Ekiti, PDP is coming back in 2030,” he stated.
He further confirmed that the political alliance would be expanded to include ADP, YPP, Accord, AA and other political groups.
“We are forming alliances with ADP, YPP, Accord, Action Alliance and others for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. They are not working for the monetary aspects but for the progress of the country,” Oluyede said.
