North Owes Tinubu for 2019 Sacrifice, Says APC Campaign Chief Yari

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Abdulaziz Yari, has declared that 2027 offers the North a chance to reciprocate President Bola Tinubu’s support for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, urging the region to back Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Yari made the appeal during a courtesy visit by the PCC to the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.

He recalled that Tinubu had resisted pressure from influential figures within the APC who wanted him to contest the presidency in 2019, insisting instead that it remained the North’s turn to produce the president.

“For people in the North, I believe it’s time for us to repay Tinubu for letting the North finish its full term,” Yari said.

He added that Tinubu had pledged to support Buhari throughout his tenure, provided the former president was willing to campaign for votes — a commitment Yari said Tinubu honoured.

“Tinubu said he will support Buhari until the end as long as Buhari is willing to come out and ask people to vote for him. And that was what Tinubu truly did,” he stated.

Yari maintained that there was no justification for northerners to withhold their support from Tinubu as he seeks to build on his current administration’s achievements and complete his term in office.

“Today, I don’t believe there’s any reason for people from the northern region not to back Tinubu in continuing the good work he has already started and finishing his time in office,” he said.
