Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially enlisted in the United States Army, marking a significant milestone in his personal and professional journey after successfully completing 10 weeks of rigorous Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
The actor announced the achievement in a heartfelt post shared on his verified Instagram page on Friday, revealing that he has been enlisted as a Specialist (SPC) in the U.S. Army after months of intense physical and mental training.
Describing the experience as one of the toughest challenges of his life, Momodu said the journey demanded resilience, sacrifice and unwavering determination.
“From inception, I have always believed in achievements earned through merit, which is why I constantly push myself beyond limits,” he wrote.
He recalled enduring exhaustion, sleepless nights, harsh weather conditions, fear of failure and moments of self-doubt throughout the training.
“There were moments of doubt and times I questioned myself, ‘Who send me message sef?’ But I never lost sight of the finish line,” he said.
According to the actor, the military training transformed him both physically and mentally.
“We trained tirelessly, were broken down and rebuilt. I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he stated, adding that the programme taught him how to “find comfort in discomfort.”
Momodu disclosed that the enlistment holds deep emotional significance, as it fulfilled a lifelong desire to continue his late father’s legacy in uniform.
“On April 12, 2026, I honored my late father in a historic way. Twenty years after his passing, I picked up the baton where he left off in the Nigerian Police Force and carried it forward by getting enlisted into the United States Army,” he wrote.
The actor is now officially Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu, serving with 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He dedicated the achievement to God, his late father, and the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Momodu also expressed appreciation to the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for facilitating his enlistment, and thanked his associate, Akeem Ogara, for managing his social media accounts throughout the training period.
