The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko, disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
The Army said the appropriate military authorities have officially declared Amutu wanted, adding that efforts are underway to track down and apprehend him for a comprehensive investigation and disciplinary action in accordance with military regulations.
Reaffirming its commitment to discipline and accountability, the Nigerian Army stressed that it operates a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, indiscipline, or any act capable of undermining its operational effectiveness, integrity, reputation, or national security.
The Corps warned that any military personnel found aiding terrorists, criminals, or other non-state actors through the unauthorized sale, diversion, or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements, or other controlled military items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
It also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful intelligence to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that all allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and anyone found culpable would be brought to justice.
