The Kebbi State House of Assembly has commenced a one-month legislative recess, with plenary scheduled to resume on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The decision was announced on Wednesday by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, during plenary at the Assembly Complex in Birnin Kebbi.
The recess followed the adoption of a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa Jega, seeking the suspension of legislative sittings until August 11. The motion, seconded by Hon. Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, received unanimous approval from members of the House.
Following the resolution, Speaker Dangoje formally adjourned plenary and urged lawmakers to use the recess to strengthen engagement with their constituents. He encouraged members to visit their respective constituencies, identify pressing community challenges, and gather feedback that would aid the Assembly’s legislative work upon resumption.
According to the Speaker, the break provides lawmakers with an opportunity to deepen grassroots consultations and better understand the needs of the people they represent.
The one-month recess forms part of the Assembly’s legislative calendar and is intended to allow members to focus on constituency engagements ahead of the commencement of a new legislative session.
The Kebbi State House of Assembly is expected to reconvene for plenary on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
