President Bola Tinubu addressed the social media buzz following his stumble while stepping into a vehicle during the Democracy Day parade at Eagle Square in Abuja. Responding with humor, Tinubu remarked that it was a day worth falling for.
Emphasizing his cultural heritage, Tinubu explained that as a traditional Yoruba man, he was performing “dobale,” a customary prostration to greet elders, at the parade. He stated that democracy, symbolized by June 12, represents the heart and soul of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
“Early this morning, I had a swagger, and it’s all over social media. People are speculating whether I was doing ‘buga’ or ‘babaringa,’ but today is about celebrating democracy while doing ‘dobale,'” Tinubu said. “As a Yoruba boy, I did my dobale. Democracy is a day that is worthy of falling for.”
