Federal High Court Unveils E-Filing System in Lagos to Boost Speed, Transparency in Justice Delivery

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has introduced an electronic filing (e-filing) system at its Lagos Division, marking a significant step toward improving transparency and efficiency in the administration of justice.

The system was officially launched on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the court’s premises in Lagos, as part of broader judicial reforms aimed at modernising court operations across the country.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Judge of the court, John Tsoho, described the initiative as a transformative move designed to streamline legal processes and reduce delays in the justice system. He noted that the platform enables legal practitioners to file cases and court processes online, thereby enhancing access to justice.

“This initiative is designed to improve transparency, eliminate unnecessary human interference and ensure that court processes are handled more efficiently,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chief Registrar of the court, Sulaiman Hassan, highlighted the operational benefits of the system, stating that it would significantly cut down paperwork while strengthening record management.

“With the introduction of e-filing, lawyers can now initiate and manage their cases remotely without the stress of physical filing. It will also improve tracking and accountability,” Hassan added.

The Lagos Division will serve as the pilot phase of the project, with plans underway to deploy the e-filing system across other divisions of the court nationwide.
