The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at Registration Area (RA) centres across Osun State until Friday, July 31, 2026, following widespread complaints from voters and overwhelming turnout at distribution centres.
The extension was announced in a statement issued by the Head of Department, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, Ariyo Rufus, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola.
According to the Commission, the initial PVC distribution exercise, which began on Wednesday, July 22, and was scheduled to end on Tuesday, July 28, recorded the collection of 322,822 Permanent Voter Cards, representing 62 percent of the available PVCs.
INEC said the decision to extend the exercise was aimed at ensuring that more registered voters are able to collect their cards ahead of the upcoming Osun State governorship election.
“Having regard to complaints and large crowds at collection centres, as well as other difficulties, the Commission has approved the extension of PVC collection at Registration Areas to Friday, July 31, 2026, to enable more eligible voters to exercise their civic right,” the statement read.
The electoral body also announced a revision to its collection schedule at Local Government Area (LGA) offices. PVC collection at LGA offices will now commence on August 1 and end on August 7, 2026, replacing the earlier date to accommodate the extended exercise at the Registration Area level.
INEC urged all registered voters who have yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to take advantage of the additional period and obtain their PVCs before the governorship election.
