Traditional rulers in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, have endorsed the 2027 re-election bid of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
The monarchs made their position known on Wednesday when Kalu paid a courtesy visit to the traditional rulers as part of his ongoing “Meet Your Constituents” tour.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, His Royal Majesty, Eze Joseph Ukaoha Anyanta, commended Kalu for what he described as outstanding legislative service and quality representation.
He said Kalu’s performance since the return of democracy in 1999 stood out in terms of legislative achievements, infrastructure development and constituency representation.
“Yours is an outstanding legislative service, the best since 1999. Yours is different and we are seeing it all over the place. We are giving you our support so that you can do your work in peace,” Anyanta said.
The traditional rulers also offered their royal blessings to the Deputy Speaker, assuring him of their continued support for his legislative programmes and political aspirations.
They further prayed for Kalu’s success, pledging to support efforts aimed at achieving his development goals for Bende.
“Anyone who wishes you evil will not succeed. We pray to God to give you the grace to achieve your lofty dreams for Bende. Whatever we can do to make this a reality, we will do it,” the monarch added.
