Fubara Has Lost Political Relevance, Supporters Left Confused — Arise News Editor Claims

The Politics Editor of Arise News, Sumner Sambo, has raised concerns over the political standing of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, describing him as increasingly insignificant in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Speaking during Monday’s edition of The Morning Show on Arise Television, Sambo alleged that Fubara has failed to provide clear political leadership in Rivers State, leaving many of his supporters uncertain about the direction of governance in the oil-rich state.

According to Sambo, the governor has not been able to firmly establish his political identity or consolidate influence within the broader national polity. He argued that Fubara’s voice is no longer considered impactful among key political actors.

Sambo further claimed that the governor is strategically aligning with President Bola Tinubu in what he described as an attempt to counter the political dominance of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

He alleged that Fubara is seeking an automatic ticket ahead of future elections and is relying on federal backing to weaken Wike’s entrenched influence in Rivers State politics.

The Arise News editor also referenced recent engagements by the governor with traditional rulers across southern Nigeria, suggesting that such moves are part of a broader strategy to build support for the president.

While acknowledging the political outreach, Sambo maintained that Fubara’s leadership has not translated into a coherent political movement within the state, describing the current situation as one marked by uncertainty and lack of direction among his supporters.
