APC Primary: Ned Nwoko Claims Landslide Victory Over Okowa, Warns Against Tampering with Outcome

ABUJA – Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has insisted that he overwhelmingly defeated former Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election held in the district.

Nwoko, in a statement issued by his Media Office, called on the national leadership of the APC to uphold what he described as the mandate freely given to him by party members, warning against any attempt to overturn the outcome of the primary election.

According to the lawmaker, he secured victory in 97 out of the 98 wards across Delta North, polling approximately 123,000 votes, while Okowa garnered about 6,000 votes.

He argued that any move to subvert the outcome of the exercise would amount to a disregard for the democratic wishes of party members and could have adverse consequences for the APC’s fortunes in the district.

“Subverting the mandate freely given by APC members who turned out in large numbers to participate in the primaries would amount to an abuse of their wishes and sensibilities,” Nwoko said.

“Such an action could undermine the confidence of party members and supporters who believe in the democratic process.”

The senator further maintained that the results of the primary election could be independently verified, claiming to possess extensive video evidence from the various wards where the exercise was conducted.

“I defeated Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa overwhelmingly in 97 of the 98 wards, and I have video evidence from across the district to support the outcome,” he stated.

“Are authenticated video recordings from 98 wards not more credible than figures allegedly concocted by a panel appointed by the governor who is openly working for Okowa?”

Nwoko urged the APC National Working Committee (NWC) and the party’s leadership to resist any pressure aimed at altering the outcome of the primary election, insisting that the will of party members must be respected.

The APC leadership has yet to officially respond to the claims.
