The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will achieve its goal of reducing and ultimately ending poverty in Nigeria.

The monarch said several economic policies introduced by the Tinubu administration were already producing positive results and helping to revitalise the nation’s economy.

Ogunwusi spoke at his palace during the unveiling of the National Mobility Programme of the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CreditCorp).

According to the Ooni, the administration’s economic reforms have contributed to growth in Nigeria’s capital market, increased foreign reserves and greater stability in the foreign exchange market.

He said the improved economic environment would enable businesses and individuals to make better financial projections.

“The economic policies of the Tinubu administration are already yielding good results. The country’s capital market and foreign reserves have witnessed unprecedented growth, while the foreign exchange market has become more stable,” the monarch said.

Ogunwusi further claimed that Nigeria’s capital market had risen above N150 trillion, while the country’s foreign reserves had exceeded $53 billion.

“Things that have never been recorded in history, we have recorded them. Our capital market has gotten to over N150 trillion. Nigeria is now the most capitalised market in the world, and we are now over $53 billion in foreign reserves,” he said.

The Ooni maintained that the ultimate objective of President Tinubu’s economic agenda was to improve living conditions and eradicate poverty among Nigerians.

“The intention of President Tinubu is to put an end to poverty among Nigerians,” he added.
