Senate President Godswill Akpabio has felicitated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, urging Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, forgiveness and mutual respect.
Akpabio, in a message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, described the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a timeless example of compassion, tolerance, humility and service to humanity.
The Senate President called on Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the virtues of the Prophet and offer prayers for peace, security, economic prosperity and national unity.
“As we commemorate this sacred day, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to reflect on the virtues of the Prophet and to offer special prayers for peace, unity and progress in our dear country, Nigeria,” he said.
Akpabio stressed that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and urged citizens to promote love and mutual respect regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
He also called on religious leaders and faithful across the country to continue praying for the nation and its leaders, particularly amid the security and economic challenges facing the country.
“In these times, our nation needs the prayers of all religious leaders and faithful. Let us use this period to pray for our leaders, for security, economic prosperity and for the unity that binds us together as one people under God,” he added.
The Senate President reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th Senate to advancing legislation and policies aimed at protecting religious freedom, strengthening national cohesion and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
Akpabio also extended his greetings to President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, wishing the Muslim community a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
