A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has expressed disappointment over the recent television interview granted by the party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing the session as repetitive and lacking fresh insights.
Obi appeared on Channels Television on Sunday, where he discussed his 2027 presidential ambition and other national issues. Since the interview aired, clips from the conversation have circulated widely on social media, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians.
Reacting in a video shared on her X account, Yesufu said the interview failed to introduce new topics or questions, arguing that Obi merely repeated positions he had already expressed on several occasions.
According to her, the interview did not provide viewers with any new information, leaving her frustrated by what she described as another round of familiar conversations.
“So Mr. Peter Obi did an interview yesterday with Seun. I absolutely feel irritated by the whole thing,” she said.
“Usually, when Peter Obi grants an interview, there is excitement about what he is going to say. But for this particular one—and maybe going forward—it is just irritation because it is the same conversation every time. There is nothing he said that has not been talked about.”
Yesufu added that after reviewing the interview, she could not identify any new questions or issues that had not been previously addressed.
“I would have picked one or two things from the interview so we could talk about them, but I have gone through it and I have not seen any new questions or questions that we do not already know the answers to. We wasted our time,” she stated.
The activist also questioned why Obi continues to face repeated public scrutiny through media interviews while, according to her, President Bola Tinubu has not been subjected to the same level of questioning.
“Again and again, more pressure is being put on Peter Obi for him to be the one coming to talk to the people, but the former Lagos State governor, who rigged himself into the presidency, is not in front of the camera. He is not being judged. Can you ask questions about what we have not heard?” she said.
