2027: Jonathan Meets Taminu Turaki-Led PDP Faction After Presidential Nomination

0

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday held a meeting with the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting comes weeks after the faction announced Jonathan, in absentia, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The former president was not present at the event where his nomination was formally ratified.

Despite the endorsement, Jonathan has yet to publicly declare his intention to contest the presidency in 2027.

On May 7, the former president said he would consult widely before deciding whether to enter the presidential race. His remarks came after a group of protesters stormed his Abuja office, urging him to declare his candidacy.

Since then, Jonathan has not made any further public comments regarding the 2027 election or his political plans.

As of the time of filing this report, details of Friday’s meeting between Jonathan and the Taminu Turaki-led PDP faction had not been disclosed.
