Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed the chances of a proposed Peter Obi–Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing it as “dead on arrival” in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, the former Kano State governor argued that the proposed alliance lacks the political strength, leadership record, and public support required to secure victory in the state.
“I don’t think Peter Obi and Kwankwaso’s ticket will succeed in Kano. It will not succeed. In fact, it is dead on arrival,” Ganduje said.
He questioned Obi’s record as former governor of Anambra State, asking what lasting impact he made during his tenure.
“What did he do as a governor? What legacy did he leave as a governor?” Ganduje queried, adding that Obi had not demonstrated sufficient governance experience to lead Nigeria.
On Kwankwaso, Ganduje argued that the former Kano governor did not complete two consecutive terms in office, unlike Ibrahim Shekarau and himself, and therefore lacked the political legacy needed to convince Kano voters or Nigerians of his suitability for the office of vice president.
Reiterating his position, Ganduje insisted that the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso ticket has no realistic prospect of winning Kano State in the 2027 presidential election.
