The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on Nigerians to participate actively in the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the voter card as the most powerful tool for shaping the country’s future ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also threw its weight behind a proposed presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, urging eligible voters to support the duo in the next presidential election.
The call was contained in a statement issued by the NDC’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Osa Director, following the party’s PVC registration mobilisation campaign.
According to the statement, Osa Director said every eligible Nigerian, especially young people and first-time voters, should seize the opportunity to register and obtain their PVCs, stressing that meaningful national transformation can only be achieved through active participation in the electoral process.
“The PVC remains the most powerful instrument for every citizen to determine the future of Nigeria through the ballot box,” he stated.
He noted that the country needs citizens who are committed to strengthening democracy through voting, adding that a “New Nigeria” can only be built when Nigerians collectively choose leaders capable of delivering good governance.
The NDC spokesman said the envisioned New Nigeria is one where hope is restored, justice is upheld, opportunities are accessible to all citizens, and accountable leadership becomes the norm.
Reaffirming the party’s political direction ahead of the 2027 elections, Osa Director urged Nigerians seeking positive change to support Peter Obi and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at the polls.
According to him, “Peter Obi and Dr. Musa Kwankwaso are leaders with the vision, integrity and capacity to transform Nigeria.”
He added that the NDC remains committed to promoting credible leadership, national unity, economic development, improved security and good governance as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
