Nigeria Suspends Visa Application Centres in U.S., Orders Direct Embassy Submissions

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the indefinite suspension of the operations of Online Integrated Solutions (OIS Services), the company managing Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres across the United States.

The directive, which took effect on July 1, requires all visa applicants in the U.S. to submit their applications directly at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General in New York and Atlanta.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Akinsola Akinlabi.

According to Akinlabi, the suspension affects only visa application submissions processed through OIS Services and does not impact Nigeria’s electronic visa (e-Visa) platform.

“Applicants can continue to apply for e-Visas through the official online portal,” he said.

The immigration spokesman assured prospective travellers and Nigerians residing in the United States that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the seamless submission, processing, and issuance of visas despite the suspension.

He urged applicants to rely on official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigerian diplomatic missions in the United States for updates on visa application procedures.

Akinlabi also expressed appreciation to applicants for their understanding and cooperation, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to efficient and effective service delivery.

The suspension of OIS Services will remain in effect until further notice.
