President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu beyond the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the country’s future will be brighter under his leadership.
Akpabio made the appeal on Thursday during the inauguration of the National Executive of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja.
According to the Senate President, President Tinubu’s economic reforms have helped reposition Nigeria from a largely oil-dependent economy to one with stronger non-oil revenue, leading to improved allocations to states.
He said monthly disbursements to states have risen significantly, reducing their dependence on borrowing to fund government activities.
“Now they shared over ₦2 trillion every month to the states of the federation, and the governors here can confirm it. They no longer need to borrow because we have built a non-oil economy,” Akpabio said.
He credited the development to Tinubu’s economic policies, adding that Nigeria is “no longer a mono-economy dependent on oil.”
Expressing optimism about the country’s direction, Akpabio called on Nigerians to back the President beyond 2027.
“So, imagine supporting him beyond 2027. I can see the future brighter. I can see everything turning around for our good and for Nigeria,” he added.
