2027: Babachir Warns of ‘Atiku Hurricane,’ Says Tinubu Better Choice Despite Current Challenges

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has launched a scathing attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, warning that his emergence as Nigeria’s president in 2027 would be disastrous for the country.

Speaking on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Lawal described what he called “Atiku’s hurricane” as a looming political threat capable of consuming both individuals and institutions if allowed to take power.

“I’m saving you from the hurricane that is coming. Atiku’s hurricane will consume you; it will swallow you,” Lawal said during the programme.

The former SGF further stated that if Nigerians were faced with a choice between President Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 presidential election, he would unreservedly support Tinubu.

According to him, despite the widespread criticism of the current administration, Tinubu would still perform far better than Atiku if both men were to contest for the nation’s highest office.

“If there must be a choice between Atiku and Bola Tinubu, I believe that as bad as Tinubu’s presidency is now, he would be an excellent president compared to Atiku,” Lawal added.

His remarks come amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections and reports of a strained relationship between him and Atiku.

DAILY POST reports that the relationship between the two political figures deteriorated following developments surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primary election process.
