0

The Rivers State House of Assembly has confirmed five out of nine commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, rejecting the remaining four.

The nominees who failed to secure confirmation are Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs. Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree. Those confirmed include Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.

The screening took place on Monday at the State Assembly in Port Harcourt, following the submission of the nominees on March 5, 2026, after the dissolution of the State Executive Council. Nominees were required to provide all necessary documentation before their confirmation.

This marks the first screening of commissioner nominees by the House since the end of the emergency rule in September 2025.
