“I’ll Quit If Tinubu Loses Edo” — Okpebholo

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has declared that he will step down from office if President Bola Tinubu fails to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

Okpebholo made the statement on Friday during an interview on African Independent Television (AIT), where he expressed strong confidence that Edo voters would back Tinubu at the polls.

According to the governor, ongoing development projects across the state are clear evidence of the president’s impact and will influence the electorate’s decision in 2027.

“Edo people have not even thanked Tinubu. How they will thank him is through their votes,” Okpebholo said.

He added that the various projects implemented across the state would “speak for Tinubu,” insisting that the president would emerge victorious in Edo.

“Bet me, if he doesn’t win, I will resign as governor,” he stated.

Okpebholo also emphasized his political approach, distancing himself from violence and thuggery. He described himself as a grassroots politician who understudied Chief Aneni, noting that his strategy focuses on community engagement rather than intimidation.

The governor’s remarks come amid growing political realignments and early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
