Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has declared the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the most viable opposition platform capable of unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, Abubakar described the ADC as a party grounded in strong ideals, solid structure, and unwavering resolve.
“I remain convinced that the ADC has risen as Nigeria’s true opposition force — one that is strong in ideals, structure, and resolve, and ready to challenge and defeat the failing APC in the elections ahead,” he stated.
The former vice-president also revealed that he hosted key stakeholders of the Adamawa State chapter of the ADC at his residence in Abuja on Friday, noting that the visit was both significant and encouraging.
Describing the engagement as “deeply touching,” Abubakar commended the stakeholders for their show of support and emphasized the importance of unity within the party’s ranks.
He urged the newly constituted state leadership to prioritize reconciliation, inclusiveness, and fairness in their operations, stressing that cohesion remains critical to the party’s success moving forward.
The remarks come amid growing political realignments and intensified positioning among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 elections.
