Omokri Challenges El-Rufai’s Denial, Renews Questions Over Dadiyata’s Disappearance

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has publicly challenged former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his recent comments concerning missing activist Abubakar Idris, widely known as Dadiyata.

El-Rufai, during an appearance on Arise TV on Friday, denied ever knowing or meeting the activist, who disappeared in 2019. The former governor’s remarks have since reignited public debate over the circumstances surrounding Dadiyata’s abduction.

Reacting in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Omokri disputed El-Rufai’s claims, insisting that Dadiyata had been a vocal critic of the former governor’s administration. He alleged that evidence exists to support this assertion and accused El-Rufai of attempting to mislead the public.

Omokri also referenced reactions that followed Dadiyata’s abduction, including comments allegedly made by El-Rufai’s son, Bashir. He further questioned the broader context of political tensions at the time, calling for greater transparency regarding the activist’s disappearance.

“Today is Valentine’s Day. Dadiyata’s wife and their two young daughters deserve to know what happened to their loved one,” Omokri wrote, renewing calls for clarity on the case.

Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, was abducted from his residence in Kaduna on August 2, 2019. Since then, his whereabouts remain unknown, and his disappearance continues to draw concern from civil society groups and human rights advocates who have repeatedly called for a thorough investigation.
