JUST IN: Sunday Igboho will be released soon –Lawyer

Ibadan, Oyo State — Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has threatened to publicly reveal the identities of politicians he alleged are sponsoring kidnappers responsible for the abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Igboho made the allegation on Wednesday while receiving newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Akinteye Babatunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan.

In a video that has since gone viral, the activist claimed that some politicians were providing financial support, weapons, and logistics to criminal elements operating in the state.

According to him, he had volunteered to assist in rescuing the abducted pupils but was prevented from intervening by the Oyo State Government.

“If I am permitted to enter their hideouts, they will flee. They are not spirits; they are human beings and can be dislodged. I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop these evil acts, I will expose them. They are the ones supplying ammunition and money to the kidnappers,” Igboho said.

He further alleged that state authorities later informed him that the kidnappers had threatened to kill the victims should he attempt to participate in rescue operations.

Igboho also disclosed that despite securing federal approval for his security outfit, Iru Ekun, he was discouraged by the state government from deploying the network to assist in the rescue mission.

“After I established the Iru Ekun security network, the Federal Government approved it, but the state government insisted that no security operation should be carried out outside its directives. My concern is solely about the safety of these children,” he stated.

The activist linked the worsening security situation to what he described as a deliberate attempt by certain political interests to undermine the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Drawing parallels with previous administrations, Igboho alleged that some individuals were working to make the country ungovernable for the President through insecurity and misinformation campaigns.

“The same thing they did to former President Goodluck Jonathan is what they are doing to President Tinubu. They want to create instability and turn the people against his government,” he said.

His remarks come amid growing public concern following the abduction of dozens of pupils and teachers during attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, an incident that triggered widespread outrage and renewed calls for stronger security measures across the country.

As of the time of filing this report, the Oyo State Government had not officially responded to the allegations made by the Yoruba Nation agitator.
