FAAN Apologises Over Power Outage at Lagos Airport Terminal 1

Lagos, Nigeria — The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has apologised to passengers and stakeholders following a power outage at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, over the weekend.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, FAAN attributed the disruption to a fault in the terminal’s power changeover circuit.

According to the agency, the outage occurred during a routine power changeover process, resulting in a temporary loss of electricity at the terminal.

FAAN said its technical team was immediately mobilised to address the situation, transfer power supply to the secondary grid, and activate backup systems to ensure a swift restoration of services.

“We acknowledge the power outage at MMIA Terminal 1 yesterday. The interruption was caused by an issue with the changeover circuit,” the statement read.

The agency further apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and airport users, assuring stakeholders that measures were taken promptly to minimise the impact of the disruption.

FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining efficient airport operations and improving service delivery across Nigeria’s airports.
