2027: Politics Has Begun, Wike Declares as Rivers Renewed Hope Ambassadors Are Inaugurated

Port Harcourt — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday declared that political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections have officially begun, insisting that “the time has come.”

Wike made the statement during the inauguration of Senatorial District and Local Government Area (LGA) Coordinators of the Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt.

He commended members of the group for their unwavering commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, despite not having the support of the state government.

“I want to thank our leaders here—from the local government coordinators to the senatorial districts, the National Assembly, the State Assembly, and the elders’ council,” Wike said. “Support is not by mouth. You have shown real commitment.”

The former Rivers State governor praised the group for organizing and mobilizing with limited resources, noting that their dedication, rather than money, was the key ingredient for political success.

“You don’t have your governor with you, yet you say you are supporting Mr. President and you will do everything humanly possible to return him in 2027,” he said. “You have managed yourselves with the little resources you have and contributed to the success of Mr. President.”

Wike also warned supporters to remain steadfast in the face of opposition, envy, and criticism, urging them not to be distracted.

“What you have done today will bring envy and hatred. Don’t mind them. Commitment is what matters, and you have shown it,” he added.

Reaffirming his earlier position, Wike concluded by declaring the formal start of political activities ahead of the next election cycle.

“I told you during our Thanksgiving that by January, we would start playing politics. Now the time has come, and politics has started,” he said.
