Kano, Nigeria — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded arrangements for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Kano State House of Assembly by-elections in Kano Municipal and Ungogo Local Government State Constituencies.

The by-elections became necessary following the demise of the lawmakers representing the two constituencies, which created vacancies in the state legislature.

Speaking on the preparations, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kano State, Ambassador Abdullahi Zango, disclosed that more than ten political parties have indicated interest in participating in the exercise.

Zango assured that INEC is fully prepared for the polls, stating that all logistics and operational plans are in top gear to ensure a credible, transparent, and hitch-free election.

He called on eligible voters in the affected constituencies to come out in large numbers on election day, pledging that the commission would provide a level playing field for all contesting parties and candidates.

The by-elections, according to INEC, are aimed at restoring full representation in the Kano State House of Assembly and strengthening democratic governance at the grassroots level.
